Everybody knows that J.K. Rowling worked as a teacher in Porto and had the idea for HARRY POTTER while she was visiting the beautiful bookstore LIVRARIA LELLO.
However, the real magic in Porto happens here – at O PAPARICO. I don’t even want to tell you too much so that I don’t take anything away from this amazing experience – but when you are in Porto, please go there. It’s just marvelous. If I would have only one evening in Porto – this is the place I would go to.
Sergio and his staff will make sure that you have an unforgettable experience. One of my friends that went to O PAPARICO told me afterward that they called it “Theater Dining” – it’s so good. Traditional Portuguese ingredients, presented in a different, mind-blowing way. Be it codfish, veal, octopus, even olive oil and Port-Wine-reduction – it’s all great. The waiters are very attentive, taking great care of the visitors, without being too much in your face – just the right mix.
The wine list is one of the most interesting wine lists I have ever seen. If you know your Portuguese wines or if you want to learn about them – you will have plenty of opportunities here.
The restaurant is nearly hidden, in a residential part of Porto. You will need a taxi to get here. Nothing on the outside gives away that this is maybe the best restaurant in Porto – nothing even gives away that this is a restaurant. Many first time visitors are a little bit confused and nearly don’t dare to knock on the door – O PAPARICO wants to be discovered by the visitors. But then they are in for a real treat. Bring time and money – and take home an experience that will always remind you of your visit to Porto!!!
Reservation is a must – you can book a table only 30 days in advance – please do so as soon as possible. It would be a pity to miss P PAPARICO.
