When you are visiting the Port Wine lodges in Gaia and you start to feel hungry, then there are several restaurants near the river waiting for you… However, if you look for some place special to eat, then you should consider VINUM.
Embedded into the GRAHAM’s 1890 Lodge, you will experience an outstanding meal, sitting in a beautiful restaurant while enjoying the marvelous view of Porto and Gaia. The cuisine is “Portuguese with a kick” – typical local dishes like Codfish and Octopus served in new, exciting ways. Also some international dishes have found their way into the menu.
Not very cheap – the starters are around EUR 15 – EUR 20 and the main dishes are somewhere in the EUR 25 – EUR 30 area.
There are also some interesting menus offered – with great wine suggestions. My preferred menu is the VINUM MENU – it contains so many well-prepared dishes… and the wines are just great. EUR 50 without wines, EUR 90 with wines. Otherwise: The wine list is of course outstanding – and reasonably priced.
A 20 year old Graham’s Tawny is for example EUR 5 per glass – and the cool thing is that you know that this wine matured for approx. 20 years in one of the many wooden barrels that you can see in the Graham’s 1890 Lodge.
Eating and drinking at VINUM while enjoying the view towards the bridge D. Luis I – a marvelous experience.
